Croatian island of Hvar has been voted one of Europe’s top island destinations by readers of a luxury travel magazine. The island came eighth in the Top 10 European Islands category of Condé Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards 2011.
More than eight million votes by 28,876 readers were cast in the magazine’s 24th annual survey. Condé Nast Traveler readers rated the cities, islands, and hotels they visited in the past year, and the airlines and cruise ships they travelled with.
Hvar received a total overall rating of 74.8. Island destinations were rated on activities, atmosphere/ambience, beaches, friendliness, lodging, restaurants and scenery.
Bozcaada and the Turkish Aegean Islands (84.2), Mykonos and the Cyclades (79.2) and Madeira (78.8) were voted the top three island destinations in Europe.
The winners of Condé Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards 2011 will feature in the November issue of the magazine.
