Ryanair has announced new flights to Zadar from Billund in Denmark for spring 2012. The low cost airline will open its first base in the Danish city in March 2012, with two based aircrafts and 19 routes.
In addition to 14 existing routes from Billand, Ryanair will launch five new routes – to Carcassonne, Corfu, Krakow, Venice and Zadar. Flights to Zadar will commence on March 24th and the route will be operated twice a week. All new routes will go on sale on Ryanair’s website tomorrow (December 7).
Commenting on the news, Ryanair’s Michael O’Leary said: “Ryanair is delighted to announce Billund as our 48th base with a total of 19 routes on sale on
www.ryanair.com from tomorrow for summer 2012.
“Now Billund consumers/visitors can beat the recession and escape both SAS and Cimber Sterling’s high fares by switching to Ryanair’s lowest fares and enjoy our no fuel surcharge guarantee to 19 exciting destinations in France, Greece, Italy and Spain among others. Ryanair’s traffic of 800,000 p.a. will sustain up to 800 jobs at Billund Airport and in the surrounding region,” added O’Leary.
To celebrate the new routes, Ryanair will be launching a 1 million seat sale from € 9.99 for travel across 1,000 European routes in January and February 2012. These low fares are available for booking until midnight Thursday (8th December).
The launch of new route to Zadar from Billund brings the total number of Ryanair’s connections to Dalmatian city to 10. Last week, Ryanair announced flights from East Midlands to Zadar for summer 2012. This route will be Ryanair’s second link to Zadar from the UK as the airline already flies to the city from London Stansted airport.
