3 – 12 July 2009 | The Garden Festival takes place annually on a beachfront location in the fishing village Petrcane near Zadar. Since its inception in 2006, the festival has grown considerably and it is firmly on people’s radar now. It is limited to a crowd of 2000 making it an intimate boutique event in a beautiful setting.
The organisers promised "an aural kaleidoscope of deep house and disco, funk and Balearic, house and dub, hip-hop and jazz and so much more too." Further fun is to be had on the daily Argonaughty Boat Parties and the club sessions held in the Barbarellas' Discotheque.
This year, the festival will run over two weekends. The first weekend runs from Friday 3rd July to Sunday 5th July and the second runs from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th July.
The event will be supported by both collectives and UK club nights including Faith's 10th birthday, Secretsundaze, Innervisions and Mulletover.
Live acts and DJs playing Garden this year include Gilles Peterson, Mr Scruff, Norman Jay, Greg Wilson, Ashley Beadle, Todd Terje, Henrik Schwarz, The Haggis Horns, Lindstrom, Overproof Sound System and Stuart Patterson.
Tickets are priced at £70 per weekend or £120 for both, and the organisers say there is reasonably priced accommodation (campsites, apartments, villas, hotels) to be found in the area, and all within close proximity to the festival site.
The double weekend whammy will be followed through the rest of the summer with a series of 3-day and night festivals:
Soundwave Festival (17-19th July)
Airbound Croatia (31st July - 2nd August)
Like Minded Festival (13 -16th August)
The Electric Elephant (28-30th August)
Disco3000 Festival (4-6 September)
Exodus Festival (11-13th September)
