Ryanair started flights to Osijek on Wednesday, the first regular passenger flights between the eastern Croatian city and the Germany city.
Osijek Airport director Blanka Strahonja said that Ryan Air would fly from Osijek to Frankfurt two times a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Ryan Air representative Luis Fernandez-Mellado said that despite the recession and high fuel prices, the company was recording an increase in the number of passengers and introducing flights to new European destinations.
Asked if the company would introduce more flights to London, he said that the introduction of new flights would depend on this year's results of the Osijek-Frankfurt flights.
In the promotional period, tickets will cost from EUR 5 one way excluding taxes and charges.
