The 16th annual Vinistra, an exhibition of wines, olive oils, brandy and distinctive Istrian products and wine-making equipment, opened in the northern Adriatic resort of Porec today.
Vinistra 2009 will feature 130 exhibitors from Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy. The event will also host the First Malvasia Competition - The World of Malvasia, which will serve to promote Istria as a preferable destination worldwide.
Vinistra is the best regional promotion of Croatian food, wines, and olive oils, said Josip Kraljickovic, state secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, during the opening ceremony.
Vinistra 2009 will close on May 2.
