Holidaymakers on a budget are finding Croatia to be this summer's value-for-money destination, it has been revealed.
According to the latest figures from currency experts International Currency Exchange (ICE), the Croatian Kuna was the fourth most ordered currency in June, while nine months ago it was the 9th most ordered.
Topping the list was the Euro, closely followed by the US dollar and the Canadian dollar. The Thai baht was the fifth most ordered currency.
Turkey was revealed as another value-for-money destination. The value of the pound against the Turkish lira has increased by 12 percent since the start of the year, which has ensured that the currency is now the ICE's sixth most ordered.
Andrew Hamilton, Head of Marketing for ICE said: "Over the last 12 months, the top three currencies (Euro, US dollar, Canadian dollar) ordered online remain unchanged with the Euro accounting for 55% of orders, while US dollar orders jumped from 18% in June 2008 to 30% this year."
"The Pound has recovered against the Euro by 12%, but it is still down compared to 12 months ago. This means UK holidaymakers are flocking to the likes of Turkey and Croatia, pushing up sales of these currencies."
