Europe Week starts with the beginning of the EU BUS Tour Croatia in Supetar on 28 April, after which the representatives of the Delegation and EU member state embassies in Croatia will visit nine more Croatian cities: Knin, Opatija, Krapina, Karlovac, Čakovec, Koprivnica, Virovitica, Vinkovci and Zagreb.
Various cultural, entertainment, informative and professional events will be taking place in these towns. The partners of the EU BUS Croatia 2009 Project include Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, embassies of the EU member states in Croatia and local partners.
The main goal of EU bus is to inform Croatian citizens on EU and European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009, celebrating the Europe Day and the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, presented on May 9, when the first steps were made towards unification of European countries. European Union wishes to encourage the citizens to create an environment suitable for creativity and innovation, raise public awareness of their importance, disseminate information about good practice and stimulate education and research.
In each of the towns, EU bus will be placed on a central location and will be a focal point of numerous activities related to EU. EU information stands will be placed next to the bus, offering various activities to interested citizens – handing out information brochures, a creative corner, EU quiz, puzzles, drawings, lectures and films in the bus, prize games and so on. The citizens will have a chance to get informed on EU, and get answers about EU and its member states, as well as on Croatia and its progress on the path to membership in EU.
