Dubrovnik has been named as one of top five beach holiday destinations in Europe, according to the reviews on the online price comparison site trivago.co.uk.
Following the European City Reputation Ranking, the online price comparison site trivago.co.uk has analysed the most popular beach destinations for the first time. In the ranking the 50 most popular European beach destinations in 2009 were investigated.
The analysis took into consideration over 380,000 hotel reviews for more than 4,000 hotels.
With an average overall rating of 78.77 points Croatian coastal resort of Dubrovnik is one of the most popular beach destinations in the ranking. It ranked on the fifth place, with Belek, Binz, Sorrento and Funchal in the top four.
With 47 hotels reviewed in Dubrovnik, the five star Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik helps the city’s ranking the most with 326 good and very good reviews that have an average rating of 89 out of 100 possible points on the trivago evaluation scale.
In related news, Dubrovnik has been selected by British Airways travel experts as one of the top ten travel destinations for 2010.
Known as the ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’, the city offers a unique experience, privacy and tranquillity making it a popular hideout for the jet set, including recent visitors Beyonce and Jay-Z.
