The eagerly anticipated Davis Cup by BNP Paribas quarterfinal between Croatia and Serbia will be played at Spaladium Arena in Split from 9-11 July.

Spaladium Arena, a multi purpose venue that was opened during the 2009 World Handball Championships, will be hosting a Davis Cup tie for the first time and has a capacity of 10,000.

Croatia will be contesting its seventh consecutive home fixture in Davis Cup. However, the last time a tie was played in Split, the country’s second largest city, was in 2005.

Croatia and Serbia, ranked No. 7 and No. 10 in the rankings respectively, will be meeting for the first time since becoming independent nations.

Croatia, the 2005 champion, recorded a routine 5-0 victory over Ecuador in the first round, with Marin Cilic and Ivo Karlovic combining to give the home team an unassailable lead after the opening three rubbers.

Serbia, meanwhile, is currently enjoying its best Davis Cup run having never previously reached the quarterfinals. In the opening round, it came through a hard fought tie against USA, winning 3-2 in Belgrade.
