In order to develop the tourism sector in the Croatian region of Split and Dalmatia, local authorities have provide for an investment plan worth 1.7 billion euro.
The main objectives of the strategy for tourism revival are the restructuring of hotel facilities and the building of new ones, an increase in the average expenditure of tourists from EUR 45 to EUR 75 per day and the hiring of new workers.
Most of the investment will be concentrated on the zone around Split, while the rest will be set aside between the city of Makarska and the islands of Brac, Hvar and Vis, as well as the Dalmatian hinterland.
The Croatian Tourism Ministry intends to invest about 4 million kuna (about half a million euro) in the promotion of local tourism.
