Swedish furniture giant IKEA will open its doors in Zagreb in the summer or autumn of 2012, today announced the director of Inter Ikea Centre Croatia Branko Mihajlov , Croatian media reports.
The store will be located in a shopping centre east of Zagreb, Zagreb East in Rugvica. With the first IKEA store in Croatia as its anchor, the centre’s more than 320 stores will include a hypermarket, leading fashion brands, household appliances and home furnishings, books and music, home electronics, a sport superstore, family entertainment and an extensive dining area.
This will be the first Ikea store in the region of former Yugoslavia, where Inter Ikea Centre Croatia intends to open a total of eight stores in shopping centres and nine IKEA stores. Next locations are Split and Rijeka, where the company is already looking for land of 20 hectares for the construction. However, these projects are still at an early stage, said Mihajlov.
