The City of Split in Croatia - a UNESCO World Heritage Site - will be host to the latest addition to the TriStar calendar on 18 September 2011. The Mediterranean City is a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1979, where triathletes will enjoy a beautiful race circuit in Split and the surroundings.

"We're proud to host an international triathlon event in our historic city. Split is one of the sportiest cities with its 67 Olympic medals, and we're looking forward to make triathlon grow in the region", says Ivan Pavic, general secretary of the co-organizer Triathlon Klub Split, and board member and technical director of the Croatian Triathlon Federation.

After 1km of swimming in the harbour, competitors will go on a 100km bike ride through Split's scenic hinterland and typical Croatian villages. The Marjan hill (178m) rises in the western part of the peninsula. The ridges Kozjak (779m) and his brother Mosor (1339m) protect the city from the north and northeast, and separate it from the hinterland. The 10km run will take athletes around beautiful spots in the historic center of Split and finally to the finish line located on Split's strolling promenade just a stone's throw away from the famous Roman Emperor Diocletian's Palace.
