Croatia has been included in the new edition of "1,000 Places To See Before You Die", the world’s bestselling travel book by Patricia Schultz.
The New York Times bestseller was first published in 2003 and reinvented the idea of travel book as both practical guide and wish list. As Newsweek wrote, the book "tells you what’s beautiful, what’s fun and what’s just unforgettable – everywhere on earth."
The new edition is illustrated with more than 500 full-colour photographs and features over 200 entirely new entries, including visits to 28 countries like Croatia, Lebanon, Estonia, and Nicaragua that were not in the original edition. Speaking to MSNBC about the new book, Patricia Schultz said that Croatia is now one of the Mediterranean’s most special corners.
Every entry from the original edition has been readdressed and made fuller, with more suggestions for places to stay, restaurants to visit and festivals to check out. Furthermore, the new edition is more budget-conscious, recommending not only the Ritz, but also moderately priced gems that don’t compromise on atmosphere or charm.
Each entry in the book is accompanied by web addresses, phone numbers, costs and best times to visit. There are also subject-specific indexes, making the 1,000-plus book user-friendly, whether the reader is actually going to visit these places or just armchair-travelling.
The book’s author, Patricia Schultz, also wrote the New York Times bestseller 1,000 Places to See in the United States and Canada Before You Die. A veteran travel journalist with 25 years of experience, Schultz has written for travel guides such as Frommer’s and Berlitz and periodicals including The Wall Street Journal and Everyday With Rachael Ray. Schultz also executive-produced a Travel Channel television show based on 1,000 Places to See Before You Die.
"1,000 Places To See Before You Die", published by Workman Publishing, is available both in paperback and hardback editions and priced at $19.95. The entire content of the book is also on the app (currently only for iPads) which is offered for free to those who purchase the first printing of the book.
