Croatian region of Slavonia will get its first five star hotel next year with the opening of the Hotel Bischof in Djakovo.
The hotel will be constructed as part of the mixed property development “Djakovo Centar” in the centre of the town. It will have 39 rooms and two suites, wellness centre and other additional facilities required by this high category.
EUR 20 million have been invested so far in the “Djakovo Centar” development which will also have flats, offices and an underground garage. The total value of the investment is estimated at EUR 37 million.
One of Djakovo’s best known tourist attractions is the town’s cathedral, St. Peter’s Cathedral. Built between 1866 and 1882 as a mixture of Roman, Gothic and Renaissance styles, it features seven richly decorated altars, numerous sculptures, graphics and frescoes by famous artists.
Another tourist attraction in the town is the oldest Lipizzaner farm for breeding horses in Europe, founded in 1506. Djakovo and its Lipizzaner farm were visited by the British Queen Elizabeth II and in 2003, by the Pope John Paul II.
