The Garden Festival Croatia has announced a new location for its 2012 summer music festival in Croatia. After six great years in Petrcane, the festival is moving to Tisno, a charming picture-perfect town on the Dalmatian coast.
The new festival site is an undiscovered musical paradise which fits with the Garden’s revered philosophy of providing unparalleled experience combining festival and holiday vibes as one, say the organisers.
It's set in a gently hilly area which overlooks the Garden's own beautiful bay, complete with sandy beach and crystal clear sea. Tisno, split between the mainland and the island of Murter (joined by a 20m rising bridge), is just a ten-minute walk away, with a host of restaurants, cafes, apartments and small boutique hotels. Situated between Zadar and Split airports, the new location is easy accessible to festival goers flying from Europe.
Commenting on the news, Nick Colgan, one of the festival's directors, said: “We really feel we have found a new home which captures the magic of our original vision but also evolves it a bit too. The Garden Tisno has its very own village, featuring 80 on-site apartments which can hold 300 people, as well as 30 Indian Shikar tents with electric fans and lighting, proper beds, mosquito nets, dressing room and porch area. There are also 120 pitches for people bringing their own tents.
“It will also feature the familiar elements everyone knows and loves – twice daily parties on the Argonaughty seadog including sunset trips close to the Kornati Islands, partying around the Main Stage and Tiki Bar day and night and a brand new Barbarellas club. The entire site runs right along a truly gorgeous shoreline, so dancing right by the glittering waters under the sizzling sun or a moonlit star-speckled sky – classic Garden experiences – remain, helping to keep the festival so unique. And with Funktion 1 across all areas the sound will once more be amazing! Already Tisno really feels like home and we think it will for everyone else too.”
New for this year’s festival is that Barbarellas will be open to all. It will be hosted each night by some of world's top club nights and promoters throughout the Garden Festival in a completely open air location with a bigger capacity that will ensure all Gardeners will get the chance to experience the new club environment. Barbarellas is located on the sea front and is just a short bus ride away from The Garden Tisno. Transfers will be arranged by the organisers to ensure that festival goers easily get there for a bit of late night revelry before the buses or taxi boats whisk them back to Tisno.
The first line-ups for the Garden Tisno will be announced in mid-January. Last summer, the Garden Festival saw one of the strongest line-ups yet performing to a sold-out crowd, including Odyssey, Electric Wire Hustle and Art Department live along with DJ sets from Wolf and Lamb, Soul Clap, Greg Wilson, Norman Jay, Benoit and Sergio, Qool DJ Marv and many more.
The Garden Tisno will be held from 4th July to 11th July 2012. Full week tickets for the event cost £90. For more information on the festival visit the Garden Festival website.
