Low cost airline easyJet announced last week that it is replacing its booking fee with a £9 administration fee. 

The administration fee will be included in all advertising and displayed as part of a full and final flight price at the first stage of booking process. It will be applied to all bookings regardless of payment method and how many flights are made.

The airline will not charge passengers for handling debit card payments, but passengers using a credit card will pay an additional fee of 2.5 per cent of the transaction value to cover handling costs. The administration fee is charged on all bookings and contributes to the airline’s administrative costs.

A spokesman for the company said that new charges will make booking flights more transparent and that the changes have been made in order to address the concerns raised by the UK Office of Fair Trading and European regulators over airlines’ pricing policy.

From the UK, easyJet offers flights to Croatian cities of Dubrovnik (London Gatwick and London Stansted), Split (London Gatwick, London Stansted and Bristol) and Zagreb (London Gatwick).
