Entrepreneurs interested in setting up a rural tourism business in Croatia, can find all the information in a newly published guide “The rural tourism handbook: Step by step to a successful business”.
Published by the Croatian Ministry of Tourism with support from the COAST project implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and authored by Robert Bacac, the guide offers a plethora of useful information to those already running a rural tourism business and those interested in setting up one.
Written in a simple and clear language, the handbook provides step-by-step instructions on establishing a rural tourism business, including the organization and management of rural farms, choices of tourist services, business registration, legal responsibility, tax requirements and selecting and conducting promotional and marketing activities.
The guide also provides advice on household decorations in accordance with tradition and environment, tips from experienced rural entrepreneurs and photographic illustrations of successful rural tourism ventures in Croatia.
The handbook was first presented to the public in December 2011 during a roundtable on agrotourism in Konavle. At the start of this year, it was incorporated into the curriculum of the regular educational programs offered by the Croatian Ministry of Tourism for providers of rural tourism.
Croatia has rich potential as a rural tourism destination, thanks to its natural and cultural diversity and unspoiled natural environment. With tourists increasingly seeking experiences offered by rural tourism, the development in this area will enrich the entire Croatian tourist offer and extend the tourist season.
