Sipan is the largest of eight islands and 5 islets that make up Elafiti archipelago, situated between Dubrovnik, island of Mljet and Peljesac peninsula. Thanks to its position, intended coast and rich soil the island was inhabited since ancient times.
Sipanska Luka and Sudjuradj are two bigger places on the island. Sudjuradj is located on the south-east of the island and well-known for its 13th century St. Georges church, 16th century citadel of the Church of the Holy Spirit along some beautiful summer villas. Sipanska Luka, on the south-western side, features late gothic St. Stephens church.
The island is an ideal rustic and quaint retreat for those who want to escape the urban noise. It is well connected to Dubrovnik by passenger boats as well as ferries.
